IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Logistics Department provides essential support functions to all departments of the Authority. These functions include facilities maintenance, repairs, and construction; fleet and equipment maintenance, repair, and acquisition; information technology services including operation, maintenance, computer application development, and security of OCFA computers and technical infrastructure. The department also provides specialized emergency support on various emergency incidents, and supplies personal protective equipment and uniforms.

Fleet Services

Fleet Services is responsible for the servicing, repair, and fueling of the OFCA fleet of over 600 fire engine/ladder truck apparatus and light duty vehicles, and approximately 100 mechanical equipment assets. The section works closely with managers and other personnel concerning new vehicle specifications and purchases, maintenance schedules, and replacement prioritization. The section also identifies and initiates projects to improve apparatus and automotive-related functions, mechanical systems, safety, and fleet operations efficiencies. Fleet services assists with emergency equipment deployment and ground support on incidents.

Information Technology

Information Technology (IT) is responsible for development, operation, maintenance, and security of OCFA computers, network, and overall technical infrastructure; the development and support of information systems applications and databases; maintenance of centralized enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and mapping capabilities; and the acquisition and maintenance of emergency communications equipment. Activities include development and monitoring of IT standards and guidelines; internal and external network development and coordination; and evaluation, selection, and deployment of all OCFA computer hardware, and software. Additional activities include the analysis, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and security for existing and future computer systems; oversight of the installation of radios and Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) in emergency apparatus and fire station alarm systems.

Property Management

Property Management is responsible for maintenance and repair of all OCFA fire stations and facilities. By working closely with emergency operations managers, the section coordinates the design and construction of new fire stations, training, and support facilities, and performs construction management services. Property Management is also responsible for headquarter facilities the security system and the security services contract.

Service Center

The Service Center provides logistical support for the entire organization. The supervisor coordinates the section’s staff and resources to provide rapid deployment of specialized emergency support equipment and supplies to various emergency incidents. The Service Center visits each OCFA fire station every weekday delivering supplies, medical oxygen, interoffice mail, and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) bottles. This section procures and deploys inventory ranging from office supplies to structural firefighting gear, and performs testing and repairs on a wide variety of firefighting equipment. The Service Center also outfits and decals all new vehicles and fire apparatus.
