Best and Bravest

The Annual Best and Bravest Awards Dinner honors the firefighters and professional staff of the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) who go above and beyond their already courageous, benevolent, and life-saving duties. The honorees are nominated by their colleagues for their bravery or exemplary services to the organization or community.The Best and Bravest Awards Dinner honors the men and women of OCFA who protect the public on emergencies and provide service to our communities throughout Orange County. Held annually in the Spring, the banquet spotlights employees that have demonstrated heroic or meritorious performance and have gone above and beyond in the line of duty.






Fire Cadet Program

The OCFA Fire Cadet Program gives aspiring firefighters aged 14-21 valuable insight into fire service. Through experiential learning, team building, and mentorship, cadets are empowered to pursue a career as a firefighter or professional staff member at one of the nation’s premier fire departments. Every July, approximately 60 cadets participate in a week-long academy, and countless OCFA Chief Officers are proud graduates of this renowned program.






Girls Empowerment Camp


The OCFA Girls Empowerment Camp (GEC) is an annual, no-cost, two-day camp open to teens aged 14-18. Introducing participants to the fire service and related public safety careers with a hands-on overview of firefighting and all that a career in the fire service entails, including ropes and rappelling, CPR/First Aid, aerial ladder climb, confidence course, forcible entry, vehicle extrication, and hose handling. The program also provides participants with life skills and guidance designed to propel them on the path to a career in the fire service.






Spark of Love Toy Drive

The Spark of Love Toy Drive collects over 35,000 toys and tens of thousands of dollars for underserved children in our service area during the holidays. In addition to collecting toys at all 78 of our fire stations from late November through December, the OCFA works with numerous businesses and organizations within our community jurisdiction to collect toys benefiting over 100 non-profit agencies. The toys are then distributed to children throughout the county during the holiday season.
