Investigation Services The Investigation Services Section conducts investigations of fires to determine their cause and conduct follow up investigations for criminal fires. The section facilitates the Fire F.R.I.E.N.D.S diversion program for juvenile-related fires.

Planning & Development The Planning and Development Services Section interacts with developers, architects, and engineers to meet fire protection and life-safety requirements for buildings and developments constructed in the jurisdictions served by OCFA by evaluating these projects through the plan review and inspection process. Planning & Development focuses on ensuring new construction and development and modifications to existing structures and sites comply with fire and life safety codes and standards.

Prevention Field Services Prevention Field Services maintains safe communities. We assist business owners and occupants in implementing minimum requirements consistent with nationally recognized good practices to safeguard the health, safety, and general welfare of the community. Our goal is to protect the public from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions in existing buildings, structures, and premises, and to provide safety and assistance to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
