News & Active Incidents

OCFA’s Active Incidents section provides real-time information on emergencies happening now. See where our first responders are deployed and stay connected to ongoing public safety efforts in your area.

OCFA is on scene of a 1-acre brush fire near the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course in Mission Viejo. The fire is currently at 1 acre.

Only evacuation at this time is Animal Urgent Care of South Orange County.

The fire is named the Arroyo Fire.

**Update**
Crews are making good progress. The fire is holding at 1 acre. OCFA is attacking the fire both on the ground and in the air with 2 of our FIREHAWK helicopters. Traffic in the area will continue to be impacted.

**Final**

Forward progress has been stopped. The fire held to 1 acre. Crews will remain on scene mopping up hot spots. There are no evacuations in place. The cause is under investigation. Thanks to our partners @OCSheriff for helping keep the community safe.

OCFA continues to support suppression repair operations with crews and equipment, with work expected to be completed by the end of today.

For the next three days, Brea Fire Department units will conduct tactical patrols twice daily, supported by OCFA drone operators.

The Carbon Fire is now 95% contained, and effective 8 a.m. today, the OCFA has transitioned out of Unified Command with @BreaFire and @CAL_FIRE.

The fire burned 205 acres and will remain in patrol status while final suppression repair plans are completed.

OCFA Division Chief Craig Covey, one of the Carbon Fire Unified Incident Commanders, provides an update on behalf of OCFA, @BreaFire, and @CAL_FIRE.

Knowing how vital this route is to the community, firefighters and law enforcement worked with the goal of reopening it in time for the start of the week commute. We appreciate the community’s support as crews continue their work.

With the continued hard work of firefighters, containment of the Carbon Fire has now increased to 84%. We’re also pleased to share that Carbon Canyon Road is now open.

Crews will actively patrol the fire line tonight and continue tomorrow utilizing the UAS (drones) infrared to assist crews in identifying hot spots.

Crews have been working hard to strengthen the great progress made yesterday and throughout the night. Containment has now grown to 71% and continues to increase.

Crews continue strengthening containment lines and cooling hot spots, using drones to pinpoint heat sources and deliver real-time visuals to support firefighters and incident command.

Just ten minutes before the Carbon Fire yesterday, firefighters also responded to a vegetation fire near Irvine Center Drive and Pacifica Place in @City_of_Irvine at approximately 1:30 p.m., quickly holding it to 1.5 acres with no structures damaged and no injuries reported.

As warmer weather approaches and vegetation continues to dry, these fires are a reminder to prepare your home and family now, create an evacuation plan, and be ready to leave quickly and safely should a wildfire occur. Visit for info about Ready, Set, Go!
