INCIDENT NAME: Ortega Incident

LOCATION: 2.1 miles west of the Orange/Riverside county border

CONTAINMENT: 100% contained.

CONTROL: Unknown at this time

PRELIMINARY CAUSE: Under investigation

WEATHER CONDITIONS: For information check with National Weather Service - Southern California or California Weather

COMMAND: U.S. Forest Service

FIREFIGHTING ASSETS:

  • 160 Firefighters
  • 6 CalFIRE Handcrews
  • 1 Hot Shot Crew 

ACRES BURNED: 30 acres

STRUCTURES DAMAGED/DESTROYED: None

REPORTED INJURIES: Minor injury of one handcrew memeber

EVACUATIONS: None

EVACUATION CENTERS: N/A

ROAD CLOSURES: Ortega Highway (Hwy 74) is closed in both directions.  Check with Cal Trans for freeway and toll road closures.   Check with the local police department for city street closures.
